Thirsty Thursday #2

Aventinus
by Private Weissbierbrauerei G. Schneider & Sohn GmbH
Style: Weizenbock (wheat doppelbock)
ABV: 8.2%

Oh man this is a good one. Aventinus is 1 of my top 10 favorite beers. I think it is available in most states in bottles. It is pretty hard to come by on-tap. If you see it on-tap, stop whatever you're doing and get a pint (or whatever serving they are offering). As you can see, the bar we were in had the appropriate glassware for the beer. That is an extra you don't always find.

From the brewery:
Dark-ruby, almost black-colored and streaked with fine top-fermenting yeast, this beer has a compact and persistent head. This is a very intense wheat doppelbock with a complex spicy chocolate-like aroma with a hint of banana and raisins. On the palate, you experience a soft touch and on the tongue it is very rich and complex, though fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes in a rich soft and lightly bitter impression.

Don't touch my beer!
