Thirsty Thursday #22
Urthel Samaranth
by De Leyerth Brouwerijen (Urthel), Ruiselede, Belgium
Style: Quadrupel
ABV: 11-12%
I had this Sunday night actually. Our weekend was a schlep-fest and I needed a brew to take the edge off. This one did quite nicely. I love quads. Spicy. Dark fruit flavors. Who doesn't love a fig? Fig newton?
This was a good beer, but I have to say, for the money you can get a better quadruple. My favorite currently is Boulevard's Sixth Glass, made right here in the ole US of A. Kansas City, MO to be exact.
Try both. See if you agree.

We are going to do this with our newborn, only we will drop him/her from the UT Tower.
Don't worry, it's for good luck

Even More Baby Junk
Nursery Slaves
We finished the dresser makeover. It turned out a little more blue than we wanted. If we have a girl we will add flowers or something of the sort.
Sofia's Mom was here this weekend to work on the baby's room, along with Leti and Eric.
But Leti and Eric slept most of the time.
Family met up for Pizza...
At Milto's.
Still grindin'

Hell Yeah
Being a lover of beer and soon to be parent, I could not have been happier to see this headline on Slate this morning:
I have not read the article yet. Knowing Slate, the actual article may have nothing to do with beer. Check it out here.

Chamberlain Baby Pool
fun filled Saturday
We've finally put the bassinet together. I think it's really cute.
We followed that with an outing to the 12th Anniversary party of Live Oak Brewery. They make the best hefeweizen. Unfortunately I couldn't have any, but Aaron and Blythe drank enough for the 4 of us.
Aaron, of course, also dug into some free food. Sausage in a flour tortilla with onions.
Blythe and Aaron laughing at all the hipsters.
Blythe laughing at me and my big belly.

Avoid the Noid
Pizza Anyone?
The NYTimes article linked above is "Video Prank at Domino’s Taints Brand." Oh yeah, because they had such a great brand before this prank. Seriously, when was the last time you had Dominoes? If I am ordering delivery from the big guys, I am definitely going with Papa John's. Duh.

Blogged
Sometimes people ask me what blogs I read. By sometimes I mean, they stop me in the street and say "Machuca, you are the ultimate blogger. What possible blog could you read?" And I tell them: Burnout. Duh. It represents the bizzaro Machuca. The path I almost took. Some of you may not know this, but up to the age of 22 I had tentative plans to move to California to begin my life in the skateboard industry. Obviously, I was not going to be a pro skater. I sucked too much. My idea was to move out west and make something happen. As you can see, through this blog, that did not happen. I took a different path.
Burnout chronicles the path I may have taken. Enjoy.

Thirsty Thursday #21
Avery Brabant
by Avery Brewing Co., Boulder, CO
Style: American Wild Ale
ABV: 8.65%
Not too sour. Definitely a wild ale. A bit different than I was expecting. To tell you the truth I wanted more funkiness out of it. This beer was aged in Zinfandel barrels, which is easy to see...well taste. Whilst drinking this my burps tasted like "wine burps." Too much information?
I have a few more bottles I am going to hold onto for a while. I think they released this beer too early. But what the hell do I know?

Stephen and Jennifer
In no particular order.
The happy couple.
Scene from a party. All of this happened after the wedding ceremony, per normal wedding/reception protocol. However, these pictures are all out of whack.
Here is a ceremony shot for yah. Groom and best man.
Before the ceremony I hid in the woods to escape the oppressive TX sun. Seriously.
Look at em. Sweatin. Not me.
Ghost town. Before I graduated college this is what I thought all of Texas looked like.
Great picture Aaron.
A little better.

Some More Baby Stuff
Dang, this baby is starting to take up a lot of room. I can just imagine what it will be like once it's actually born.
Jaron helped us move this dresser yesterday. Next time you see it, it will be sanded and painted "kid like." That is the stroller, bigger than a skateboard for sure.
The crib is put together. Still needs a mattress. Updates to come as my office slowly becomes baby's room.
The baby gets his/her own room and I have to share mine with Sofia. Kid can't even walk.
