Sonic Violence

Saw SY on Saturday for my birthday. Great show. Obviously. They played a good mixture of new and classic. My favorite of the night was Tom Violence. Watch this:

ACL Next Week

The Austin City Limits Festival is next week. Some good bands lined up, but like always, I am not going. But we do have tickets to an aftershow. SONIC YOUTH, duh. I can't wait.

While the cats are away...

Sofia and Santiago are the cats in this scenario. They are going to Boston this weekend. And I just scored tickets to a ACL after show with the Raveonetttes. Oh yeah!

B'P'B

The new Bonnie Prince Billy (Will Oldham) CD is out for yr listening pleasure. I bought tickets to his June 6th show here in Austin. One problem. The baby is due JUNE 1! Whoops. But I had to buy them just in case. We'll see.

Willy is kind of blowing up. I saw a review of this CD in Entertainment Weekly. I was shocked. Is he the next Cat Power...you know the person all yr friends would wonder why you would ever listen to, then three years later they blasting em on their iphones. Time will tell.

No Sleep Till....

...we are out of this damn beer line at least.

We saw the Beastie Boys last night. It was sick sick sick! Thanks Matt and Whitney for the tickets!

First Ever Brooklyn Show.

Ernest, Don't Stand so Close to Me

Ernest got me a ticket to The Police. He felt bad that Sofia could not go, so he bought her dinner.

At Brother Jimmy's BBQ that was surprisingly tasty.

It also had a nice view of my office building.

And of course fancy beer.

Then Ernest and I saw The Police.

We rocked out.

Stung.

Manu Chao

Ok. This is big. What we have here is the White Girl Smoke. This is a term Fred Gunn coined while we were in college. It became a hobby for us, searching it out. It's not hard to find in Mississippi. Here, this young lady (probably all of about 16) demonstrates the classic WGS: Tilt head up, purse lips and blow hard so not to get smoke anywhere near you.

Oh, sorry, back to the original post. Manu Chao was playing in Prospect Park on Wed. and Thurs. This year we actually bought tickets to see the show.

Manu Chao gave me chills. Sonic Youth was the only other band to give me chills. See these guys if you can.

Home Sweet Yeahright

It's been awhile since I bitched about our apartment, so here it goes. Our buzzer hasn’t worked for over a year. They finally replaced them this week. They look hospital-esque and they don't do junk. Well, I should say they are pretty handy for listening to what is happening on the street, but the door buzzer doesn’t work. Half ass, that is the way they do stuff around here. I can't wait to live in a giant cookie cutter brand new plastic yet lush apartment complex! I'm through with these 19th century pieces of s.

Oh yeah, Monday night Ernest and I went to see Josh Johnson's (JJ) band at the Knitting Factory. The band is Tyler Read, and their new cd is gonna be in "best buy, jc pennys, you know all those fancy stores" soon. Katie Jo was also there. It was funny seeing her in New York (she lives here now in case you did not know). We made plans to see each other again, but she lives in the Upper West Side, which might as well be Mars.
