WALLENBERG

Chris Cole won with a backside 360 and a switch frontside flip. My personal favorite was Lindsey Robertson's backside heel. Chris got two huge tricks, so he won. Lizard King's one foot backside 180 was sick as well.

I'll Eat Almost Anything

But not this. Gross. This is from the maker's of Bacon Salt. That's right, Bacon Salt, it makes everything taste like bacon! I have had that, no lyin'. Our friend gave us some. I tried it once. First one to ask can have my bottle.

Donuts in the breakroom

I can't think of a better way to make it through a Thursday. I guess you can expect to see more pictures of me getting stuck in tubes.

Pool Party

Party at Eileen's. I got stuck in a tube. I thought I could dive right through it. Not so.

This is like my tenth attempt to dislodge myself from the floaty toy.

Meanwhile, everyone else was enjoying the party.

Still stuck.

Pizza at Mellow Mushroom!

Sofia says Milto's is better. Yeah, but Milto's does not have Arrogant Bastard on tap.

Thirsty Thursday #25

Longshot Cranberry Wit
by Boston Beer Company (Samuel Adams), Boston, MA
Style: Witbier
ABV: 5%

I hate cranberries. Put 'em in beer...I love 'em. The same formula probably would not work with brussel sprouts. But I guess you never know, until you try it.

This beer is part of Samuel Adam's Longshot Series, a national homebrew competition. This year's six pack contained three different styles. This was my least favorite, but still very tasty. Perfect for grilling in the warmth of a Texas evening.

From the brewery:
The third brew in the Longshot package will be a Cranberry Wit created by Carissa Sweigart, winner of the Samuel Adams employee homebrew competition. Carissa’s beer was chosen by over 1,111 beer lovers at the 2008 Great American Beer Festival™ from among the 3 employee homebrew finalist. Congratulations Carissa!

Downtown baby.

We had some sushi-ish dishes. I had this supppeerrr fruity martini. Colorful and tasty.

Skate Video Monday #29

Sunday's are always good for nonsense.

We watched Doubt last night. I suggested that we need not attend church this morning, because of the mass scenes in the movies. Sofia did not agree.

Thirsty Thursday #24 - LATE EDITION

Duvel
by Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat NV, Breendonk-Puurs, Belgium
Style: Belgian Strong Pale Ale / Belgian Golden Ale
ABV: 8.5%

My idea was to have Duvel, in lieu of champagne, to celebrate the birth of our first child. Duvel, how could you go wrong? Sofia asked if her parents or anyone else in attendance would enjoy it as well. I don't usually need an excuse to drink, but this was a good one. Thanks Sofi. I picked up a small bottle of it last night to test its compatibility with beer philistines.

Spicy. Bitter...no sweet...no bitter. Just good. Crisp and refreshing.

I am thinking this is a go for baby day! How much is a magnum of this?

Thrasher, 1984

Best job in the world - converting old Thrasher's into web content. Thrasher is slowly putting up their entire back catalog. They just released 1984. This is history.

Colony Plaza No More!

They destroyed it. Wow, it is about time. Story and video of the implosion here.
We used to go there with my Dad when we were kids. Later in life it had some good skate spots, but a sure bust. It's sat empty for years now.

5.10.2009

Real men drink pink. I hope this does not hurt my beer cred. Hula Hut is not known for it's beer, but the tropi-mexi drinks are wonderful.

As Dave says, you oughta have to pay to live on a day like this.

We met up with Jay, John and Justin for lunch on Saturday. Picture by Justin.

Then, old man at the skatepark. It was hot as hell. Nothing was gettin done.

So we went swimming.

Thirsty Thursday #23

Stone Imperial Russian Stout
by Stone Brewing Company, Escondido, CA
Style: Russian Imperial Stout
ABV: 10.8%

I got this in a trade as an extra. I traded La Folie for Cantillon Lou Pepe Kriek, for Sofia's first beer after her pregnancy, and this came along with it. I was please to say the least, since this is not available in Texas and I had never drank it before.

It is good. It stands out among the throng of other R. Imp. Stouts out there. It's quite boozy and has a nice anise flavor as well. I still think Yeti and Samuel Smith's are a better, but if this became available in TX I would be happy try again.

5.06.2009

I know you are all dying to know

This is my daily commute. It is getting sweaty out there.

5.05.2009

Fu-dee Weekend.

I hate the word "foodie" and all that comes with it. But I do like food. So, whatever, for a lack of a better word, we are foodies. I think I take after Uncle Steve Miller. I put his kids to shame when it comes to food.

Lambert's on Friday for some fancy bbq.

I had the brisket sandwich. I won.

Sof lost with the cheeseburger. It was good. Not great. The waffle fries were killer though.

After dinner we stopped at the foodie mecca, the flagship Whole Foods. A place I love and hate at the same time. Sort of like the Park Slope Food Coop. This is like the coop, on super crazy crack.

I know what you are thinking. "Two burgers in one weekend!" I know, I know. We went into Hil-Bert's for a milkshake and I surprised Sofia when I ordered a cheeseburger.

It was tasty, for fast food.
